Metalwork and Jewellery

After decades of focused and inventive working in clay, in a moment, I stepped across a corridor and into a room where metal was similarly celebrated. Unclear of purpose, my intuitive drive for enquiry and learning was strong. Every unfamiliar step sparked uncertainty.  Fingers so accustomed to softness and malleability now battled with unyielding hardness. Unfamiliar work processes scraped and damaged my skin and the vibrations of hammering juddered through my body.

Fresh skills and ideas confronted familiar ground alongside the discovery of links between these diverse substances.

Altered thinking has stimulated risk and experimentation leading to the emergence of radical porcelain forms now requiring metal joints and components for their survival. The purpose of my new adventure is now clear.
